Converse County Employment Prerequisets

Minimum Qualifications: U.S. citizen; 18 years of age; possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.; corrected vision to 20/20; a valid state driver’s license; no felony or domestic violence convictions. Applicants must meet department standards on the written exam, physical fitness test and oral board interview to be eligible to advance to the background investigation. On the written exam (100 multiple choice questions), applicants must receive a 70% to meet standard. To meet standard on the physical fitness test, applicants must meet the 40th percentile level in each category assessed; see attached “Physical Fitness Pre-Employment Standards” sheet. This fitness test is physically strenuous. A.D.A. regulations prohibit us from asking applicants whether you are physically able to participate in the physical fitness test. As such, it is your responsibility to make this determination. We recommend to applicants whose physical condition is in question that you see your personal physician prior to participating. Gym shorts and tennis shoes are recommended for the physical fitness test.

The background investigation will require you to provide complete and accurate information about your history. You should collect the information and documentation outlined below and bring it with you. Providing accurate and thorough information to your background investigator will enable him/her to complete your background check promptly. In addition, we will take an identification photograph and fingerprints at the conclusion of your pre-background interview. Information and documentation that you will be asked to supply includes:
